Fresh concerns over the state of women’s football in India have erupted after a viral video allegedly involving players from Suruchi Sangha during the ongoing Indian Women’s League 2 (IWL 2) season spread rapidly across social media.

The footage, widely circulated on X and Instagram, appeared to show players speaking about severe financial difficulties and poor travel arrangements while journeying for a league fixture.

The condition of Suruchi Sangha in the IWL 2 is deeply disappointing. The players have reportedly been left without proper management support, given just ₹125 to survive for two days, while even travel tickets for everyone remain unconfirmed. #IWL2 #indianwomensfootball pic.twitter.com/y9g6Sh5slX— Sourav Paul (@Doppelg40906183) May 12, 2026

In the video, one player claimed that each squad member had been given only ₹125 to survive a two-day journey.

“Each player has been given 125 rupees by our club," one footballer alleged in the clip. “We boarded the train at 2 pm and will reach the venue tomorrow. We haven’t eaten anything and when we called the manager, he said, ‘the owner has asked to pay that much only’."

Another player questioned how the amount could possibly cover even the most basic necessities.

“We have got nothing to eat and now, the manager asked us to survive two days for 125 rupees. But how will we survive with just 125 rupees?" she said. “Even a biscuit costs 20 rupees and we are not even getting water."

Players also allegedly raised issues about the lack of support staff accompanying the team during the journey. According to claims made in the video, there was no proper team manager or official travelling with the squad, leaving the players to manage the difficult trip largely on their own.

“When we called the manager, he said the owner had told him to give only this much. I don’t know whether the owner really said this or if he is saying it himself," another player added.

Additional posts circulating online also alleged that not all players had confirmed train tickets, although these claims have not been independently verified.

Neither Suruchi Sangha nor tournament officials had issued an official response at the time the controversy exploded online.

The matter has drawn even greater attention because the club is owned by former All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) minister Aroop Biswas.
