A tragic road accident occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district when a private sleeper bus travelling from Kanpur to Gurugram collided with a tanker near pillar number 46 in the Matsena police station area. The impact of the collision was so intense that the bus caught fire moments after the crash, leading to panic among passengers.

According to officials, the bus driver and conductor lost their lives in the incident, while around two dozen passengers sustained injuries of varying severity.

City Magistrate Vinod Kumar Pandey confirmed the incident and said rescue and relief operations were carried out immediately after the accident.

“A very tragic incident took place on the Expressway. A double-decker bus collided with a canter and caught fire. About 15-20 people were injured in the incident. Five people have been admitted to the Trauma Centre. Others have been referred to Shikohabad and Saifai. We have information of two people, driver and conductor, being killed in the accident," he said.

Emergency services and local police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the crash. Firefighters worked to control the blaze while rescue teams evacuated passengers from the burning vehicle.

The injured were taken to nearby medical facilities, including the Trauma Centre, Shikohabad Hospital, and Saifai Medical College, for treatment. Authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the accident, though preliminary reports suggest the collision occurred at high speed.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Traffic movement on the expressway was briefly disrupted following the accident but was later restored.
