Banaswadi Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the suspicious death of a two-year-old girl at her residence on Indira Street in Bengaluru. While the parents claim the toddler succumbed to sudden breathing complications, law enforcement officials have cast suspicion on their involvement. The couple, identified as Jason Anthony and Roslyn, had been cohabiting in a live-in relationship for several years.
Contradictory Accounts and Physical Evidence
The initial narrative provided by the parents suggests a sudden medical emergency. According to their statements, the child developed acute respiratory distress and passed away at the residence before medical transport could be arranged to a nearby hospital.
However, the timeline and nature of the death quickly came under scrutiny after police received an emergency notification later that evening. The following morning, the child’s maternal uncle formally intervened by lodging a criminal complaint against the couple, directly accusing them of systematic physical abuse.
- Allegations of Physical Abuse: The complainant explicitly stated that the parents routinely subjected the toddler to physical beatings.
- Visible Trauma: The uncle’s complaint highlighted the presence of distinct, unexplained injury marks across the child’s body.
Legal and Forensic Proceedings
Acting swiftly on the family’s formal complaint, the Banaswadi Police registered a case of suspicious death under Section 194(4) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The child’s body has been shifted to Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital for a mandatory post-mortem examination.
Investigators stated that while the parents are currently being questioned regarding the pattern of domestic injuries, the definitive trajectory of the criminal case will depend entirely on the upcoming forensic autopsy report to establish the precise cause of death.
