In a disturbing incident that has left an entire village stunned, a 35-year-old woman allegedly eloped with her 15-year-old nephew from the Pipiganj police station area in Uttar Pradesh‘s Gorakhpur district. The case, which came to light after both went missing from their homes, sparked concern and intense search efforts by family members and police.
According to information provided to the police, the boy’s father lodged a complaint after his son, a Class 9 student, and his younger brother’s wife suddenly disappeared. Initially, the family tried to locate them quietly due to social pressure, but when they failed to trace their whereabouts, they approached the police, who registered a missing persons report and began an investigation.
During the probe, it emerged that the two had left home on January 26 and were reportedly planning to get married. Police sources said the pair moved around different parts of Gorakhpur for several days and did not contact any relatives or acquaintances during this period.
After nearly 10 days, a police team noticed the duo moving in a suspicious manner in the city and questioned them. Their identities were confirmed, and they were taken into custody. The Pipiganj police were informed and both were brought to the station.
During questioning, it was revealed that the minor boy and the woman had developed a close relationship and had intended to marry, despite the age gap and family ties. The boy is reportedly 20 years younger than the woman.
Station in-charge Arun Kumar Singh said both families were called to the police station. After discussions that lasted about an hour, family members persuaded the two to return home. The families stated they did not wish to pursue any legal action in the matter.
Police said the boy had left home after being upset with his family. Further inquiry confirmed that the two had been staying within Gorakhpur during the period they were missing. The matter was resolved after family intervention, and both were sent back with their respective relatives.
