6 Killed As Truck Rams Into Bus On Yamuna Expressway In Mathura, UP CM Takes Cognisance

As per the police, a container truck rammed into the side of a stalled bus and ran over the passengers standing near it.

In the early hours of Saturday, a tragic accident on the Yamuna Expressway resulted in the death of six people and injuries to three others when a container truck collided with a bus. The truck also ran over passengers standing in front of the parked vehicle, according to local police.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acknowledged the incident and extended his condolences to the grieving families. He instructed officials to promptly reach the scene and accelerate relief operations.

The accident took place at approximately 2:45 am in the Sureer police station area. A bus travelling from Noida to Rasulabad in Kanpur Dehat district had stopped on the Yamuna Expressway to allow passengers to relieve themselves. During this stop, a container truck crashed into the side of the bus and ran over the passengers in front of it, stated Senior Superintendent of Police of Mathura, Shlok Kumar.

Six people lost their lives instantly, while three others sustained injuries. Among the injured, Shivkant Dubey (46) is receiving treatment at a district hospital and is reported to be in serious condition.

District Magistrate Chandraprakash Singh and SSP Shlok Kumar visited the hospital to check on the injured passenger’s condition and assured that all possible assistance would be provided.

The deceased have been identified as Sonu (32), Devesh (32), Aslam (27), Santosh (45), Anurag (27), and Pramod (35), officials reported.

The District Magistrate announced that ex-gratia compensation would be given to the families of the deceased and the injured in accordance with regulations.

A case has been registered, and the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Efforts are underway to locate the truck driver, who fled the scene after the accident. The remaining passengers are being transported to their destinations.
