The 32nd Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, got underway on Sunday with 'Bridgerton' Season 4 breakout star Yerin Haa announcing the first awards, while walking the red carpet.

The film, which is the latest instalment in the long-running franchise starring Tom Cruise, has earned acclaim for its ambitious stunts on land, air, sea and sky. With the awards, set to be the forerunners for the Oscars, fans can expect to see the team behind 'M:I 8' become the front-runners for the upcoming Academy Awards later this month. Best Stunt Ensemble in a Television SeriesOn the television side, 'The Last of Us' secured the Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series award.

The critically acclaimed drama faced strong competition from other high-profile series such as 'Stranger Things', 'Andor', 'Landman', and 'Squid Game' before taking top stunt honours. Oscar adds Best Stunt Design categoryBesides The Actor Awards, the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also introduced a new competitive category to honour and recognise achievement in stunt design. The category will be introduced at the 100th Academy Awards in 2028 and will honour films released in 2027. Filmmaker David Leitch, best known for 'The Fall Guy', 'Bullet Train', reportedly spearheaded the initiative on behalf of the stunt community.
