Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently celebrated his 83rd birthday, and as every year, Sony Entertainment Television marked the occasion with grandeur on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati. This year’s special episode featured writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar and his son, actor-director-singer Farhan Akhtar as celebrity guests. Javed, who co-wrote Zanjeer — the film that transformed Amitabh Bachchan’s career and earned him the iconic title of Bollywood’s “Angry Young Man” — shared anecdotes about their long creative journey. Many of Big B’s most successful films were penned by the celebrated writer.
Adding to the celebrations, actor Mohanlal joined the show virtually to deliver a touching message to the megastar. His heartfelt words brought a wide smile to Amitabh’s face.
“Dear Amit Ji, wishing you a very happy birthday,” Mohanlal said in his video message. “You are an endless source of inspiration. Your discipline, humility, and strength are qualities the world continues to learn from. Every interaction with you reminds me how much there is to absorb from your journey. May you always be blessed with good health and happiness.”

Visibly moved, Amitabh Bachchan responded, “Thank you so much, Mohanlal ji.” Turning to Javed Akhtar, he added, “Sir, he recently received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He is such a brilliant actor — whatever role you give him, he transforms completely. His face is God-gifted; every emotion flows naturally through his expressions.”
Interestingly, Mohanlal — who was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award earlier this year — has often expressed admiration for Amitabh Bachchan. In a past interview with Doordarshan, the Malayalam superstar called him his favourite actor in Hindi cinema.
“All good actors are great in their own way,” Mohanlal had said, adding, “But if I must choose, it has to be Amitabh Bachchan. He is one of the greatest artistes in the country. His brilliance lies in his ability to transform and still remain relevant after so many decades.”
