Andhra Pradesh COVID tally rises to 49 with 10 new cases

The State reported 10 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday (July 25), taking the total number of active and recorded cases to 49.

According to a release from the Health Department, three cases were reported from Guntur district, two from NTR district, and one each from Alluri Sitharama Raju, Eluru, Krishna, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam districts. A total of 302 samples have been tested so far.

East Godavari district has reported the highest number of cases at 11, followed by Guntur with nine, YSR Kadapa with eight, Visakhapatnam with five, NTR district with three, and Kakinada, Eluru and Bapatla with two cases each. The remaining districts have reported one case each.

Of the 49 persons who tested positive, 24 are undergoing treatment in hospitals and 16 are in home isolation. Five patients have recovered and been discharged, including three from YSR Kadapa district and one each from Guntur and Eluru districts.

Four COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in the State so far, including three in YSR Kadapa district and one in Kakinada district.

The Health Department said disease surveillance had been intensified across the State, with rapid response teams monitoring the health condition of COVID-19 patients and tracing their contacts.

It added that all secondary and tertiary care hospitals have dedicated COVID-19 isolation wards and are adequately stocked with medicines, personal protective equipment and testing kits.
