KARIMNAGAR
Bandi Sai Bageerath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Saturday, lodged a complaint with the Karimnagar Two Town police alleging criminal intimidation, extortion, criminal conspiracy and harassment by three persons, including a couple and their daughter.
Based on his complaint, police have registered a case under Sections 308 (5), 351 (2), 61 (2) r/w 3 (5) of the BNS and took up investigation.
In his complaint, Mr. Bageerath alleged that he came in contact with the girl through a common friend.
“Under the guise of friendship and social association, they invited me and my friends to family functions and group gatherings and spiritual places,” he said.
“Believing them to be trustworthy and being part of a larger friend circle, I had travelled with them and other friends to Vijayawada temple, Arunachalam and Tirumala temples, as part of the friends’ group,“ he added.
“After some period of time, their behaviour changed and her parents called me and began pressuring and intimidating me to marry their daughter. When I refused, they threatened to file false criminal cases against me. Out of fear I gave ₹50,000 to her father. However, they were not satisfied and demanded ₹5 crore more,” he alleged in his complaint.
He sought a fair and thorough investigation into the “acts of intimidation, attempted extortion and false implication".
In his complaint, he also said that a few of his friends had a similar issue with the trio and had earlier lodged a complaint against them at Nirmal police station on April 21, and an FIR was reportedly registered in that regard.
