F1: The Movie, the Formula 1 blockbuster starring Brad Pitt, lands a streaming release date on Apple TV+. Find out when you can stream the movie on the platform.

F1: The Movie opened in theaters on June 27 and debuted on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Aug. 22. The official summary for the film reads, “Dubbed ‘the greatest that never was, Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was Formula 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling Formula 1 team that is on the verge of collapse.

“Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to Formula 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in Formula 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition — and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.”

Directed by Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, F1 The Movie also stars Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies and Kim Bodnia.

Apple TV+ announced in a YouTube video on Monday that F1: The Movie will arrive on the platform on Friday, Dec. 12. While the film was distributed by Warner Bros., Apple TV+ is the streaming video on demand destination for F1: The Movie because it was produced by Apple Original Films.

Apple TV+ is an ad-free streaming platform that costs $12.99 per month after a free seven-day trial.

How Did ‘F1: The Movie’ Perform In Theaters?

F1: The Movie earned $189.5 million domestically and nearly $437.8 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $627.3 million.

The film had a reported production budget of $200 million before prints and advertising costs, according to Variety, but the trade publication noted that other reports said the budget was closer to $300 million.

F1: The Movie earned an 82% “fresh” rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics based on 355 reviews. The RT Critics Consensus for the film reads, “Driven by Brad Pitt’s laidback magnetism and sporting a souped-up engine courtesy of Joseph Kosinski's kinetic direction, F1: The Movie brings vintage cool across the finish line.”

The film also earned a 97% “fresh” score on RT’s Popcornmeter based on 10,000-plus verified user ratings.

F1: The Movie will arrive on Apple TV+ on Dec. 12.
