Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo announced on Sunday that he had joined the ownership group of English side Chelsea Women’s Team.

Antetokounmpo’s foray into the ownership of the WSL team comes amid talks of his exit from the Bucks, and his move to join prediction market Kalshi as a shareholder.

“I’m proud and honored to partner with my friend @alexisohanian , joining the ownership group of @ChelseaFCW , a historic club built on passion, excellence, and a winning culture," Antetokounmpo said in a post on social media.

“Chelsea’s history speaks for itself, and I’m excited to contribute to the future by supporting continued growth and impact in women’s sport," he added.

“This is about ambition, legacy, and pushing the game to new heights. Up the Chels," the Greek-Nigerian superstar added.

Record eight-time WSL winners Chelsea, who are also six-time reigning champions, stand third in the ongoing season of the league with 27 points in 14 outings thus far this season, and are placed behind table-toppers Manchester City, with 39 points, and United, who have 31 points.

Antetokounmpo’s move into the boardroom comes amid speculation of a switch away from his beloved Bucks after an 18-year-stint with the side.

Antetokounmpo has been caught between a tough choice as the fierce 31-year-old competitor seeks more glory at Buck, who stand nowhere close to the top prize as things are poised, and Bucks owner GM Jon Horst has began to entertain shouts for a trade, which would by no means come cheap even if it were to come to pass.
