A 23-year-old caregiver has lodged a complaint with the Mico Layout Police Station alleging harassment and physical abuse by her employers, with whom she had been working for the past six years.

According to the complaint, the woman was employed by Amar and Anshu to take care of their children and was residing with the family inside the IIMB campus in Bengaluru. She alleged that since 2021, her employers had been denying her proper food, physically assaulting her during disagreements, and frequently confiscating and checking her mobile phone.

The complainant further stated that Anshu allegedly assaulted her on several occasions. In a recent incident on April 15 at around 2.30 a.m., she was allegedly beaten after she woke up and attempted to speak with the others. Out of fear, she said she did not inform anyone about the abuse earlier.

She also alleged that she was not allowed to step outside freely and that her movements were constantly monitored. The woman claimed that on May 4, after she was denied food, she sought help from neighbours, who provided her with bananas and bread packets.

With the help of the neighbours, she contacted her aunt residing in Bengaluru and later informed members of the Kuki Students’ Organisation Bangalore about the alleged abuse.

The woman has now requested the police to take legal action against the couple for allegedly subjecting her to mental and physical harassment. The police are investigating the complaint.
