Enumerators have begun the process of numbering houses in Telangana as part of the Census-2027 process.

The process was taken up after the option of self-enumeration for Census-2027 in the State — which was made available from April 26, 2026 — ended on Sunday (May 10, 2026). The enumerators visit to houses began on Monday, and will continue till June 9, 2026.

Director of Census Operations, Telangana, Bharati Hollikeri said that the numbering will be taken up for the initial three to four days, to confirm boundaries of House Listing Blocks (HLB) of respective enumerators. Thereafter, they (enumerators) will visit door-to-door for data collection.

The senior official said that of the total 5,64,667 who have registered for self-enumeration in the State, 5,14,038 have completed the process online.

ID cards with QR codes

Earlier, concerns were raised online that scamsters might pose as enumerators and visit homes of people. Earlier, Ms. Hollikeri said that the enumerators and their supervisors are provided with identity cards, which have QR code. If someone has doubts, they can scan the QR code to find the authenticity of the enumerators.

Nagarkurnool District Collector Hemanta Keshav Patil on Monday too spoke about the QR code on ID cards and how details can be fetched from the official website upon scanning the code.
