The Rotary Club of Dharwad Central will launch cervical cancer vaccination project on Friday with a target to cover around 2,500 girls aged between nine and 14 residing in rural areas of Dharwad district.
Addressing presspersons in Dharwad on Thursday, Rotarian Kavan Deshpande said that the project will be inaugurated by Chariman of Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti at Rampur village at 10 a.m.
Dr. Kavan said that the initiative is being implemented through a Global Grant from the Rotary Foundation in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Central Chester County, U.S.
The project is being carried out in partnership with FPAI as the implementing partner and Tata Motors Body Solutions as the associate partner, he said.
Under the initiative, girls will receive the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccine in a structured and phased manner. Administration of the HPV vaccine will be under strict medical supervision, adhering to all safety, efficacy and cold chain management protocols, he added.
