The Communist Party of India (CPI) is no longer in alliance with the DMK in Tamil Nadu, said M. Veerapandian, State secretary of the CPI.

Mr. Veerapandian told the media in Coimbatore on Thursday (June 11, 2026) that at present, there was no conducive environment in the State for the CPI to be part of the DMK-led alliance. “We will continue to travel with the Left parties. The CPI sees the DMK, AIADMK, and TVK as democratic forces. We cannot be part of the DMK-led alliance under the current circumstances. The situation is not allowing it.”
