Dhurandhar 2 marketer claims 'Dangal' dominance WON'T LAST

Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' became the highest-grossing Indian film after it was released in China and Hong Kong. No other film has surpassed the collections of the film yet; however, the marketer of 'Dhurandhar 2' and 'Varanasi' recently stated that the Aamir Khan starrer's reign at the top will end in 2027.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Varun Gupta was asked if 'Dhurandhar 2', 'Ramyana', or 'Varanasi' can take over the collections of 'Dangal'. He answered, "Today, we are talking in February 2026. In 16 months, we can talk again, and we definitely will have crossed it. All three films mentioned—'Dhurandhar 2', 'Ramayana Part One', and 'Varanasi'—have a very clear potential."

Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' was released in December 2016. And in China and Hong Kong, the movie hit the theaters in May 2017. This gave a massive boost to its box office collection. The movie raked in Rs 600 crore from its China and HK release. With that, the Aamir Khan starrer made history, collecting Rs 1305.29 crore in the neighboring nation. The worldwide collection of the film is Rs 2070.3 crore. Meanwhile, it earned Rs 387.38 crore in India.

Several movies like 'Baahubali 2' and 'Pushpa 2' came close to the mark; however, they failed to beat it.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, 'Dhurandhar 2' is one of the most anticipated films of the year 2026. Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, the movie is set to release in theaters on March 19, 2026.On the other hand, 'Ramayana', starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash in the lead roles, is set to arrive in two parts. The first one will be released on Diwali 2026, and the second installment will hit theaters on Diwali 2027. Meanwhile, 'Varanasi', directed by SS Rajamouli, stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the leads. The time travel movie is scheduled to release on April 7, 2027.
