Eight deaths confirmed in rain-related incidents in Kerala: CMO

A total of eight deaths have been confirmed across Kerala in rain-related incidents as a spell of intense rain battered the State from Friday (July 31, 2026), as per information from the Chief Minister’s office. Thirteen people sustained injuries while 5,792 people were shifted to 209 relief camps. Twenty-seven houses were completely destroyed and 196 houses were partially destroyed.

The government will ensure assistance to the families of the deceased and those who have lost their homes and livelihoods, axcording to a press release from the CMO.

The CM is continuing to coordinate with the Revenue Minister, the Ministers in charge of the districts and the district administration regarding the rain damage in the state, although the intensity of the rain has reduced compared to yesterday. Cleaning activities have been started in the flooded areas. The CM appealed to political party workers and voluntary organisations to participate in the cleaning activities. The government will provide adequate support, he said.

The CM has advised vigilance to continue in the hilly areas, which are prone to landslips.
