Road Rage Horror: Army Veteran Dragged From Car, Beaten in Gurugram (Photo: Screengrab from X video)
A minor scrape between two cars on a Gurugram road on Saturday turned into a violent assault when a retired Army colonel was allegedly beaten with beer bottles, forced to transfer Rs 30,000 via UPI and left hospitalised.
The incident took place in Haryana when Colonel Anil Yadav, 50, was returning alone from a private hospital after attending to his ailing father. According to his complaint, a car in the lane to his right suddenly swerved left and, despite braking, his vehicle grazed it.
What happened after the accident?
Anil Yadav said six men got out of the other car carrying beer bottles and began arguing with him, even though he was willing to compensate for the damage. He alleged that they assaulted him with bottles and punches and damaged his car, breaking the windshield and lights.
He claimed the men pushed him into their car and tried to drive away but fled as traffic built up, after forcing him to transfer Rs 30,000 through UPI. He was admitted to hospital for two days.
In a post on X, Yadav alleged police inaction, claiming the investigating officer did not visit him in hospital or register an FIR promptly.
FIR registered, 5 arrested
Gurugram police said an FIR was registered at Sector 50 police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Five accused including Pankaj, Vikas, Nikhil, Sahil and Ankit Kumar have been arrested. Police said the men had attended a wedding in Badshahpur on February 21 and are being questioned. The investigation is ongoing.
