Four arrested for allegedly possessing and attempting to sell MDMA after the Excise State Task Force seized 4.62 gm of the drug during a raid in Amberpet early on Friday.
The accused were identified as Sheikh Faisal, P. Anshu Prasad, MD. Masood and A. Preeti Vardhan.
Excise officials said Sheikh Faisal, the prime accused, had been absconding in three earlier cases and was allegedly involved in drug consumption and supply for a prolonged period.
According to investigators, Faisal was allegedly continuing to engage in narcotics trafficking despite being named in multiple previous cases.
Acting on information that drugs were being sold in the Amberpet area near Tilaknagar, the Excise State Task Force B Team, led by SCI Sandhya, conducted inspections and intercepted a car carrying the accused. During the search, officials seized 4.62 gm of MDMA, the vehicle used by the accused and three mobile phones.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly procured 20 gm of MDMA from Bengaluru and were attempting to sell the narcotic substance when they were apprehended.
Excise officials said Sheikh Faisal was a key accused in several earlier narcotics cases and had allegedly been supplying drugs in substantial quantities. The accused, along with the seized drugs, vehicle and mobile phones, were handed over to the Kachiguda Excise Station for further investigation.
