Foxconn , the Taiwanese contract manufacturing giant, has announced an investment of Rs 15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, which is expected to generate around 14,000 skilled jobs. The state’s industries minister, TRB Rajaa , termed it Tamil Nadu’s largest-ever engineering jobs commitment and a major boost for its electronics and advanced manufacturing sector.
Rajaa shared on X that Foxconn’s new investment phase will focus on value-added manufacturing, research and development and AI-driven technology operations in Tamil Nadu. He added that Foxconn’s India representative, Robert Wu, met Chief Minister MK Stalin to reaffirm the company’s long-term commitment to the state.
To streamline the collaboration, Rajaa said Tamil Nadu’s investment promotion agency, Guidance, will set up India’s first dedicated 'Foxconn Desk' to facilitate project execution and coordination. “We are setting the stage for Dravidian Model 2.0,” he noted.
The announcement comes shortly after Wu’s meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru, where they discussed expanding Foxconn’s footprint in manufacturing and technology.
Foxconn currently operates in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana and the new investment further strengthens its role in India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
