GBS 2026: Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan attended Day 2 of the Global Business Summit hosted by ET Now. During his brief appearance as a guest, Bachchan addressed various topics. From the film industry to the current business landscape in India, Abhishek showcased that he is an all-rounder when it comes to possessing knowledge about different fields.

Towards the end, he also touched upon the aspect of sports when he was asked to dwell on taking a different route than others and beginning to invest in sports ventures. The actor thanked the individual for asking the question, stating that he carries this love for sports and is grateful to contribute to Indian sports.

"It was just what interested me. I am very passionate about sports. I have always wanted, I have always played sport. I always had this dream to want to contribute to Indian sport in some manner. My sporting journey started with Kabaddi and Pro Kabaddi League, in which I own the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Then came Football. I grew up in a British boarding school, so football was a part of life, and I co-own Chennaiyin FC, which plays out of Chennai in the Indian Super League."

Abhishek also revealed the future endeavours in sports he is set to embark upon.

"We then invested in a new kind of cricket league called ISPL, which is the Indian Street Premier League, which is Gully cricket with tennis balls. This is our third season, and later this year in August, we launch the ETPL, which is the European T20 Premier League, which I am one of the founders of. So, enough of running a team. That's too much stress. So, we are now bringing T20 cricket to Europe, and it is owned by four Indians, and I think that's just wonderful. Make in India and take it back to them."

He concluded by stating that he feels fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to the sports sector and that he would have done an injustice if he had not leapt into the field.

"I really enjoyed it. It is something that I love doing. I love making films. I am looking forward to flying back to Mumbai tomorrow morning, heading straight on the set. I love it. That's my happy place, but I also enjoy sports. I enjoy my investments. I am very impatient, and I tend to get bored. We were discussing this backstage. We tend to get bored very fast, so these are things I feel I have the opportunity. God has given me this opportunity to do it, so it will be wrong of me not to avail it. But I see all of the younger actors as well who are spreading their risk. They are not depending entirely on being an actor. They are very happy producing films, developing films, doing other businesses, and I think there is a renewed confidence in young India today, where we don't feel like we should stay in one lane, and I love that. It is so exciting, so I look forward to seeing a lot more of that going forward"
