Harsh Singh and his wife, Ruby Jain, have been booked in connection with the incident.

FIR Filed Against Harsh Singh and his wife, Ruby Jain, After Racial Slur Against Northeastern Women in South Delhi.
Days after the controversy, the Delhi man accused of racially abusing and threatening three women from Arunachal Pradesh in Malviya Nagar has expressed shame and apologised to people from the Northeast.
Harsh Singh and his wife, Ruby Jain, have been booked in connection with the incident. The dispute began over repair work, when dust from an air conditioner installation fell onto the couple’s floor.
Police registered a first information report under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 79 (word intended to insult a woman’s modesty), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 3(5) (common intention) and 196 (promoting enmity on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.).
What he said?
Speaking to ANI, Singh said he and his wife were “definitely ashamed" of the incident, adding that the remarks were made in the heat of the moment.
He said they were cooperating fully with Delhi Police and had faith in the police and the Indian judiciary. He urged social media users to listen to both sides and asked for no media trials.
Singh alleged that his property was being attacked and that one of his men was about to be attacked. He said the situation escalated after one of the women came forward. He added that he and his wife would accept any punishment given by the court.
He also said he was receiving obscene images of his mother on social media and requested that his family and profession not be dragged into the matter. He personally apologised to all Northeastern people.
What happened that day?
The incident took place on February 20, when three women from Arunachal Pradesh called an electrician to install an air conditioner in their flat at 3:30 pm.
During the drilling work, dust and debris fell onto the floor below, leading Singh and his wife to object. The couple allegedly abused the electrician. One of the women said they defended him, stating he was only carrying out work at their home.
The argument escalated and the couple also called the police. Videos of the incident later went viral on social media. In the footage, Singh’s wife was allegedly heard calling the women “momo", a term used as a slur referring to a popular northeastern dish.
The accused also allegedly called the women ‘sex workers’ and made derogatory remarks.
Arunachal CM condemns incident
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu condemned the incident and described it as shameful.
In a post on X, he said such behaviour was unacceptable and had no place in society. He added that he spoke to the Commissioner of Delhi Police and was assured that the accused would be apprehended at the earliest and dealt with as per law.
