The Nilgiris district administration has announced that the hill plantation crops show will take place at the Kattery Park in Coonoor between Friday and Sunday.
The show will be the third summer festival this year, with the Rose Show having already taken place over five days from May 13. The annual flower show at the Government Botanical Garden is currently under way and is set to conclude on May 28.
The Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Taneeru said the Horticulture Department had put in a lot of efforts to organise the summer festivals this year and appealed to the public to visit the shows.
One more summer event is expected to be held this year – the annual Fruit Show. It is organised at the Coonoor Sims Park, though dates for the event this year are yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, heavy crowds were seen at major tourist spots in the district, including Pykara Falls, Government Botanical Garden and Rose Garden on Thursday. Local hotels said they expected to see a significant increase in tourist number over the course of the weekend as crowds rush to visit the flower show.
