A case of alleged religious conversion involving a minor Hindu boy has surfaced from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor, with the family claiming the boy was lured to Kashmir on the pretext of a job and later pressured into converting to Islam.

The incident was reported from Bakharpur village under the City Kotwali area of Bijnor.

A youth, identified as Wasim, allegedly took the minor boy, Vishal, to Kashmir on the pretext of employment, claimed the family, adding he was later threatened and forced to convert to Islam, CNN-News18 reported.

Sources told CNN-News18 that when the family tried contacting Vishal, they were told: “Forget the boy“. After the conversion, Vishal was reportedly named Hamza.

How The Incident Came To Light

The incident came to light after a video, featuring the boy’s religious conversion, came under social media scrutiny.

After the video went viral online, the victim’s family approached the Superintendent of Police (SP) office, seeking assistance and pleading for Vishal’s safe return from Kashmir.

Police have registered a case into the matter and initiated a probe into the same. More details are awaited.
