IIPE to confer degrees to 114 students at May 14 convocation

The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam, will hold its sixth convocation at its permanent campus in Vangali village of Anakapalli district on May 14. NITI Aayog member V.K. Saraswat will deliver the convocation address as chief guest.

A total of 114 students, including 97 B.Tech. students, 15 M.Sc. students in Applied Geology and two Ph.D. scholars, will receive degrees during the ceremony. The institute will also present gold and silver medals across disciplines, along with awards for outstanding girl students in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

IIPE officials said that academic activities commenced at the permanent campus from the Spring 2026 semester and currently has 601 students on its rolls, including 124 Ph.D. scholars.

The institute reported placement percentages of 84.82% for B.Tech. programmes and 85.71% for M.Sc. Applied Geology during 2025-26. It also highlighted ongoing research initiatives, including an NTPC-supported green hydrogen project aimed at generating hydrogen from seawater.

IIPE stated that it had published 50 research papers during the academic year and was handling 19 sponsored research projects with a total outlay of ₹41.38 crore.
