Karnataka is set to take a major step towards strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem, with the 200-acre Semiconductor Park at KWIN City near Bengaluru expected to become operational by December 2026.

The announcement was made by M.B. Patil, Industries Minster of Karnataka, highlighting the state’s efforts to attract high-value technology investments. The semiconductor park is being developed as part of KWIN City (Knowledge, Wellbeing and Innovation City) and aims to create a dedicated ecosystem for chip manufacturing, packaging, testing, and electronics production.

The project is expected to support companies across the semiconductor value chain and strengthen India’s domestic chip manufacturing capabilities.

Over the past two years, Karnataka has approved investments worth Rs 23,000 crore in the semiconductor and advanced Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sectors. These projects are expected to generate more than 3,500 high-skilled engineering jobs, while helping integrate local MSMEs into the global semiconductor supply chain.

The announcement comes as India continues to push for self-reliance in semiconductor manufacturing through government incentives and infrastructure development.

Karnataka is also preparing a new Aerospace and Defence Policy 2026-31, which will focus on emerging technologies such as electronic warfare systems, e-VTOL aircraft, embedded software, and space technologies.

Once operational, the KWIN City Semiconductor Park is expected to reinforce Bengaluru’s position as India’s technology capital while attracting global chipmakers, creating skilled jobs, and boosting the country’s ambition to become an important player in the global semiconductor industry.
