Karuppaiah sworn-in as Pro-tem Speaker

Karuppaiah M.V. was sworn-in as Pro-tem Speaker by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at the Lok Bhavan on Sunday evening. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay was present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the 17^th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly has been summoned to meet for its first meeting at 9.30 a.m. on May 11. The newly elected members will make and subscribe oath or affirmation on that day.

On May 12, the election of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker would be held at 9.30 a.m., Principal Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Assembly K. Srinivasan said in a release.
