The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would raise the issue of people identified to be displaced as part of the Musi Riverfront project, planned by the Congress Government and would exert pressure on the government against demolishing the homes, working president of the party K.T. Rama Rao said during a visit to some areas on Sunday.

He, along with party leaders, took out a protest march along with the residents and interacted with them in Hydershah Kot and K.K. Nagar areas, including the Madhu Park Ridge apartments.

Speaking to the residents at Rajiv Gruhakalpa, Mr. Rama Rao said there was a need to build pressure on the government not to demolish even one home and it was possible with a united fight by the families likely to be displaced, their neighbours and others. He alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was running a “bulldozer raj”.

He accused the government of resorting to real estate business by displacing people along the Musi in the name of the riverfront project and selling the reclaimed land to the realtors. He asked them to wage a battle against the government to protect their homes for the next two years and the next government of BRS would ensure that their homes were not touched.

He accused the Congress national leadership of keeping silent on the ‘Bulldozer Raj’ in Telangana in lieu of the funding being made by Mr. Revanth Reddy. The BRS leader said the Congress Government had unveiled a major scam in the name of Musi riverfront project to help kin and followers get the contracts of real estate business in the reclaimed areas.

He pointed out that it was the previous Congress Government that had given permissions to Madhu Park Ridge. He also questioned why the government was keeping silent on the palatial homes, villas and farmhouses of the Congress leaders in the buffer zones of water bodies.
