The State Task Force of the Excise Department arrested one person for allegedly selling thandai mixed with ganja-infused chocolates in old city.
The accused, identified as B. Vikash Sharma, a native of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was operating in Begum Bazaar and was selling regular thandai for ₹50 per glass. However, he was also offering a special version of the milk-based drink mixed with ganja chocolates for ₹150 per glass.
Acting on a tip-off, the STF carried out a raid at the accused’s residence in Uppuguda under the limits of the Charminar excise station. During the search, officials seized 1,920 ganja chocolates weighing 9.6 kilograms.
According to excise officials, the accused admitted to mixing approximately five grams of ganja in each chocolate. The chocolates were sourced from Agra and brought to the city in view of high demand during Holi festivities.
The accused, along with the seized contraband and a two-wheeler used in the operation, was handed over to the Charminar Excise Station for further legal action.
