Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League table following their win over Everton on Saturday as Viktor Gyokeres’ lone strike settled the tie in favour of Mikel Arteta and Co.
Gyokeres netted from the spot in the first-half of the game to take the Gunners two-points above chasing Manchester City at the top of the English top-flight.
Arteta, who has his eyes set on a maiden Premier League title as the head coach of the London-based side, who haven’t clinched the crown in over two-decades, opined that his players should have found the back of the net more times than they did at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
“The margin should have been bigger. We have to learn while we are winning," said Arteta.
“It gives me belief and confidence the performances and consistency of the team," he added.
“That is very difficult to do in this league and that means the team is constantly there," the Gunners boss said.
Everton struggled to find the net without the injured Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Iliman Ndiaye, who is away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
David Moyes once again lamented the absence of a striker as they failed to score despite putting up a determined performance.
“You can play a well as you like and do good things but we need to get some goals," said Moyes.
“We’ve not had goals in the last two games, which is the bit that’s been missing really," the former Manchester United manager said.
“We done a lot of things, the players effort, the spirit. Everything you’d want them to do they did tonight. It was just a bit of quality or trying to hurt Arsenal a bit more," he added.
