Laxmi Hebbalkar, Minister for Women and Child Development, Karnataka, presided over the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a 110 kV power station at Sahyadri Nagar in Belagavi on May 9.
“My constituency consists of 90% rural areas and 10% urban areas. However, before I took charge, the urban areas were like villages, and the rural areas were more backward. The urban areas were neglected by the Belagavi City Corporation. But after becoming the MLA, I have been working hard to improve the conditions in my constituency. This area was served by a 33 kV station. I have initiated steps to build a 110 kv station here, even though there was no demand for it from the people because I am working keeping in mind the needs of this constituency for the next 25 years,” the Minister said.
MLC Channaraj Hattiholi, HESCOM Superintendent Engineer Krishnappa, BCC member Mustaq Mulla, community leaders Raosaheb Patil, Pratibha, Holeppa Mandoli, and Mohan Sutar, were among those who participated in the event.
