'MM' BO day 3: Sci-fi film nears Rs 1.5 cr

'Masthishka Maranam' completed its first three days at the box office with a total India net of Rs 1.44 crore. The film opened at Rs 38 lakh on Friday and it climbed to Rs 55 lakhs on Saturday.

This registers a 44.74% jump. Day 3 saw a slight dip, with early estimates placing Sunday collections around Rs 51 lakhs. Despite the drop, the performance is surely impressive for a genre-bending Malayalam film led by Rajisha Vijayan and directed by Krishand.

The movie registered an overall 25.42% Malayalam occupancy on Sunday, March 1, 2026 as reported by the Sacnilk website. Morning shows logged 16.70% occupancy. Afternoon shows improved to 28.28%.

Evening shows peaked at 31.08%, reflecting the strongest viewership of the day. Night shows settled at 25.62%.

The film revolves around a grieving father who enters a virtual reality memory game to reconnect with his lost child. Krishand, who serves as both writer and director, has crafted what he describes as a “Frankenbiting of Simon's Memories,” which is actually the original title of the movie.
