Ghana posted a 1-0 win over Comoros in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers between the sides on Monday at Accra Sports Stadium to secure their berth in the showpiece.

Ghana will join the likes of Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia at the quadrennial spectacle slated to be held in USA, Mexico and Canada.

Ghana required just a point in its final game in Group I to guarantee qualifying for back-to-back World Cups and managed to secure their presence at the biggest event on the planet with their win as Tottenham Hotspurs forward Mohammed Kudus netted to put the 2010 World Cup quarterfinalists through.

Madagascar finished second despite a 4-1 loss to Mali. Although securing victory would have boosted their chances of being one of the four best runners-up, which compete for a place in the playoffs.

The nine group winners automatically qualify for the World Cup. The four best runners-up will participate in a mini tournament, consisting of two semifinals and a final, in November. The winning team will advance to FIFA’s playoff tournament, facing opponents from Asia, CONCACAF, South America, and Oceania.

Burkina Faso, second in Group A behind Egypt, concluded its campaign with a 3-1 victory over Ethiopia, with substitute Pierre Landry Kabore scoring a second-half hat trick.

Egypt had already qualified and secured another win by defeating Guinea-Bissau 1-0. In Group E, Niger beat Zambia 1-0 and finished second.
