The mortal remains of Planning and Statistics Minister D. Sudhakar, who passed away on Sunday (May 10), were cremated with State honours at the Jain Mukthidham on Pavagada Road at Challakere in Chitradurga district on Monday (May 11).
Among those who paid their last respects to the departed people’s representative included Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, AICC general secretary Randeep Surjewala, and members of the State Cabinet.
Hundreds of people from Hiriyur and Challakere took part in the procession carrying his mortal remains in the city.
At the Mukthidham, family members performed the final rites according to Jain traditions. Police personnel fired a three-round salute in honour of the departed leader. The Chief Minister presented the national flag to Sudhakar’s wife, Harshini Sudhakar.
