The expansion of Bengaluru’s metro network remains a top priority for urban development. The city continues to seek relief from its chronic surface traffic. Recently, the Managing Director of BMRCL conducted an extensive on-site evaluation of the upcoming Pink Line.

This inspection is a critical milestone for the Reach-6 project. This line will eventually connect Kalena Agrahara in the south to Nagawara in the north.

BMRCL Managing Director Dr. J. Ravishankar personally oversaw the Reach-6 elevated division. The inspection was a comprehensive evaluation of the project’s progress. The MD reviewed civil works, station architecture, and viaduct construction. He also checked the status of essential system installations.

During the visit, Dr. Ravishankar held detailed discussions with engineers and contractors. They addressed the logistical and technical challenges facing the line. He emphasized that speed must not compromise the project’s integrity.

“Under no circumstances should quality be compromised; highest security standards must be followed, and the work must be completed within the stipulated time," Dr. Ravishankar stated.

Impact on Bengaluru’s Mobility

The completion of the Reach-6 elevated section is the first step toward public use. BMRCL stated in a press release that they are prepared to meet updated deadlines. The project is expected to be a game-changer for the city’s transport.

BMRCL initially aimed to open the line by 2025. However, the project encountered several setbacks. Delays in train coach supply and construction hurdles pushed the timeline forward.

To help the public sooner, BMRCL is considering a phased launch. The first phase will focus on the elevated stretch in the southern sector. This initial service would cover these key stations:

  • Kalena Agrahara
  • Hulimavu
  • IIM Bengaluru
  • JP Nagar 4th Phase
  • Jayadeva
  • Tavarekere

Current sources indicate that public services may begin in May 2026. This timeline aligns with the expected arrival and testing of new train sets. This ensures the infrastructure is fully supported by the necessary rolling stock.
