The Noida Police have registered a Zero FIR against a 15-year-old girl for making abusive, vulgar and derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the NEET-UG protest held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 23.
The accused is a Noida resident originally from Faridabad. Police said she is absconding and efforts are underway to trace her. She reportedly runs a beauty parlour and had purchased a flat in Noida earlier this year.
Complaint Filed By Supreme Court Advocate
The case was registered at the Expressway Police Station on July 29 following a complaint by Smriti Singh, a Supreme Court advocate and resident of Vasundhara in Ghaziabad.
In her complaint, Smriti Singh stated that she came across a video of the protest on July 23, in which the teenager allegedly used abusive and objectionable language while addressing a gathering at Jantar Mantar.
She alleged that the remarks insulted the dignity of the Prime Minister’s constitutional office, hurt public sentiments and were made with the deliberate intention of spreading hostility and disturbing public peace.
Case Registered Under Three BNS Sections
Based on the complaint, police registered a Zero FIR under Sections 352, 353(1) and 356(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
As the alleged incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi, the case has been transferred to the Delhi Police for further investigation. Officials said the probe will include examination of the viral videos, other digital evidence and statements of witnesses.
Videos Went Viral On Social Media
According to police, multiple videos of the teen girl allegedly making abusive and derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister during the protest surfaced on social media in recent days. The clips drew widespread criticism and triggered calls for legal action.
Police said activists later identified her from the viral videos and traced her Noida address, following which the complaint was filed. Authorities confirmed that she and her family have reportedly been untraceable since the incident.
Background Of The Protest
The remarks were made during a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including the NEET paper leak, and demands for accountability from the government.
According to police sources, several videos from the protest showed participants using abusive language against the Prime Minister and other Union ministers. Officials said Ruchika Singh’s remarks are among the instances that have led to legal action.
Police said no arrest has been made so far, and further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation being carried out by the Delhi Police.
