During his visit to the Netherlands, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised India’s ambition to become a key driver of global economic growth, while calling for stronger cooperation between India and the Netherlands in emerging and strategic sectors.
Speaking to the Indian diaspora in The Hague, Modi expressed happiness over interacting with the community and described the city as a strong symbol of India–Netherlands friendship. He noted that the leadership of the Netherlands has consistently appreciated the contribution of the Indian community living there.
He also reflected on India’s political stability over the past decade, stating that the strong trust of citizens has kept the government focused and committed despite global and domestic challenges.
India amid global uncertaintyHighlighting the turbulent global environment, Modi pointed out that the world has been facing a series of crises in recent years, starting from the Covid-19 pandemic, followed by geopolitical conflicts and ongoing energy concerns. He warned that if such disruptions continue without resolution, the world could face prolonged instability.
Against this backdrop, he positioned India as a stable and rising economic partner capable of contributing to global recovery and resilience.
Focus on resilient supply chains and clean energy
Modi stressed that countries today are increasingly prioritising secure and resilient supply chains. In this context, he said India and the Netherlands are working closely to strengthen cooperation in key areas such as green hydrogen, semiconductors, and innovation-driven technologies.
He underlined that partnerships between the two nations could play an important role in shaping future industries and ensuring sustainable development.
India’s digital and startup transformation
Referring to India’s rapid technological progress, Modi highlighted the country’s transformation in digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and innovation-led sectors.
He noted that India now hosts one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing startup ecosystems, currently ranked third globally. According to him, this reflects the growing confidence and aspirations of Indian youth, whose ambitions, he said, have no limits.
Strengthening India–Netherlands tiesModi reiterated that cooperation between India and the Netherlands is becoming increasingly important in a changing global order. He said that both countries are working together to build more resilient economic systems while exploring opportunities in high-growth sectors.
He concluded by reaffirming India’s vision of becoming the “growth engine of the world,” driven by innovation, demographic strength, and expanding global partnerships.
The address in The Hague highlighted India’s broader diplomatic and economic outreach in Europe, particularly in strengthening technology, energy, and investment linkages with key partners like the Netherlands.
