“The confusion over change of leadership is a small issue in Karnataka Congress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not make a big issue out of it. We have great regard for the post of the Prime Minister. There is no need to attach greater importance to the issue. Such discussions are common in politics,” Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Sunday.
He was speaking to reporters in Haveri.
“It is natural for Prime Ministers to criticise other party governments with a political perspective. But every one knows how the BJP gained power in States like West Bengal and Maharashtra. There is a fundamental difference between the political ideology and style of governance of the Congress and the BJP,” he said.
“The BJP, which has been criticising Congress government’s guarantee schemes as a burden on the economy, is winning polls in various States using the same guarantees. This shows their dual stance,” the KPCC working president said.
“The five guarantees we have implemented in Karnataka have been a boon to the common people. The BJP, which was criticising them earlier, is now announcing similar schemes in Maharashtra and other poll-bound States. It is copying our guarantee schemes,” he said.
“Is it not the double standard of the BJP where it criticises them in Karnataka but banks on them in other States?” he said.
“Development is not hampered by these guarantee schemes. That is very clear. Some Opposition leaders are creating unnecessary confusion about these programs that directly benefit the people,” Mr. Jarkiholi said.
