Police seize 20 kg ganja in Villupuram, one held

The Villupuram Town Police arrested 20 kg of ganja which had been smuggled to Villupuram by train and arrested one person in this connection near the Villupuram Railway station on Saturday night.

Following a tip-off, a team was conducting checks near the railway station when they noticed the suspect S. Mohanraj, 34, of Tirukkoyilur, with a bag. When the police checked the bag, they found 16 bundles of ganja in them.

Initial inquiry revealed that Mohanraj had bought ganja from drug peddlers in Andhra Pradesh to sell in retail to individuals in Villupuram district. He was arrested and remanded to custody. A case has been registered.
