Rain spell to continue in Kerala

Isolated rain will continue in the State powered by multiple weather systems over the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. A low-pressure area has formed over southwest Bay of Bengal off the north Sri Lanka coast. Although it persists over the same region on Monday with the associated cyclonic circulation, it is likely to become more marked during the next 48 hours, according to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.

A trough in easterlies runs from the centre of the low-pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal off the north Sri Lanka coast to the south Lakshadweep area across south Tamil Nadu between. Another upper-air cyclonic circulation lay over the southeast Arabian Sea and the adjoining Lakshadweep off the Kerala coast. It persists over the Southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep adjoining the Kerala coast.

The trough in easterlies now runs from the cyclonic circulation over the Southeast Arabian Sea, the adjoining Lakshadweep, and the Kerala coast to Marathwada across coastal Karnataka. Under the influence of the systems, scattered and widespread showers are likely during the next four days.
