In a major relief to hundreds of employees affected by the previous government’s decisions, the Telangana government has approved inter-district deputation for 223 Panchayat Secretaries who had lost their local cadre status due to G.O. No. 317 issued earlier.
According to a memo issued on February 12 (Thursday) by Principal Secretary, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (PR&RD), N. Sridhar, the government has accorded permission by relaxing certain guidelines of GO MS No. 190 to allow these employees to work in their preferred districts for an initial period of two years. They will be accommodated against clear available vacancies, irrespective of their grades.
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya, who played a crucial role in resolving the long-pending issue, said that the State government had taken note of the hardships faced by Panchayat Secretaries displaced from their home districts. She said the decision came after detailed discussions with associations and after hearing employees concerns directly.
“The Panchayat Raj department will become the first department in the State to implement inter-district deputations under the new guidelines. Permissions are granted based on vacancies and administrative requirements across districts,” said, emphasising that the process is handled with transparency and fairness, keeping employee welfare at the forefront.
Panchayat Secretaries Association president P. Madhusudhan Reddy expressed his gratitude to the State government and Minister Seethakka. This decision brings much-needed relief to us, as we were forced to work far from our homes and families,” he said.
Officials noted that reinstating secretaries closer to their native places will not only boost staff morale but also contribute to more effective implementation of rural development schemes. They added that the deputation exercise will take at least one month to complete.
