Serie A heavyweights AS Roma are reportedly interested in roping in Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee during the January transfer window, per reports.
The Italian Capital City side have assured the Dutchman, who has found play time hard to come by at the Mancunian club, of a regular place in the starting lineup.
The 24-year-old Zirkzee joined Manchester United from Bologna last year and hasn’t had as big an impact as was expected. The former Bayern Munich player has been pushed further down the pecking order with the arrival of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Manchester United, who stand seventh in the English top-flight, have amassed 26 points in 17 games thus far this season with seven wins, five draws and as many defeats in the campaign.
In their latest outing, Manchester United slumped to a 1-2 defeat at the Villa Park on Sunday as Morgan Rogers’ double rendered Matheus Cunha’s strike for United a mere consolation.
Roma, on the other hand, stand fourth in the Italian top-flight with 30 points from 16 outings this season, just three behind toppers Inter, two behind second-placed AC Milan and one behind third-placed defending champions Napoli.
