Karnataka Lokayukta officials seized Rs 1.70 crore in cash from the flat of a friend of a senior government engineer during raids linked to a disproportionate assets case, officials said on Thursday.

Earlier, Lokayukta teams conducted simultaneous raids at 29 locations connected to four government officers across Karnataka, including Bengaluru, Davangere, and Dharwad. The raids have uncovered assets worth a total of Rs 23.76 crore.
Besides Janardhana, the officers under investigation include Arjun R H, Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil) at BESCOM, Davangere; Purushotham Das Hegade, Executive Engineer at the Public Works Department; and Somalingappa Fakkirappa Siddanagoudar, Survey Supervisor at the Assistant Director of Land Records’ Office, Dharwad.
Among them, Purushotham was found to have the largest wealth, estimated at Rs 11.29 crore, which includes a plot, two houses, two educational institutions, 11 acres 30 guntas of agricultural land, Rs 44.23 lakh in cash, Rs 60.79 lakh in gold and silver ornaments, and fixed deposits worth Rs 27 lakh.
