An armed man robbed a 25-year-old salesman of cash, cheques, and a mobile phone worth ₹2.5 lakh at knifepoint near BDG lane at Ranasinghpet, situated around 800 m away from the Cottonpet police station limits, on February 5 night.
The complainant, Ravi Prajapat, a native of Ajmer district in Rajasthan, has been residing in Bengaluru for the past 12 years. He is employed as a salesman at a wholesale readymade garment shop and was responsible for collecting payments from retailers across various districts.
According to the complaint, after collecting payments from different shops in Arasikere, Prajapat got down from a bus at Majestic at around 12.30 a.m. and was walking towards his residence when an unknown person accosted him.
The accused allegedly threatened him with a knife and robbed him of ₹1.30 lakh in cash, eight cheques of various denominations, grocery purchase receipts, and a mobile phone worth ₹10,000.
Ravi managed to reach home and informed his employer before filing a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and launched a search to trace the accused. Further investigation is under way.
The Cottonpet police have registered a case of robbery and are verifying the CCTV footage to track down the accused.
