Samwat 2081: Nifty50 climbs nearly 4%

The Nifty 50 climbed 3.7 per cent led by marquee stocks such as Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki, BPL, Eicher Motors, and IndiGo, each recording gains of over 40 per cent.

On the other hand, TCS, Asian Paints, HCL Tech, NTPC, and Trent were the top losers, with declines of up to 34 per cent.

The Nifty Midcap index outperformed slightly, rising about 4 per cent. Top contributors included L&T Finance, Muthoot Finance, Fortis Healthcare, Paytm, and Godfrey Philips, which surged up to 77 per cent.

In contrast, Sona BLW Precision, Torrent Power, Tata Tech, IndusInd Bank, and Tube Investments posted losses, declining by up to 40 per cent.

The Nifty Smallcap index experienced a decline of approximately 3.3 per cent.

High performers such as Manappuram Finance, Laurus Labs, GRSE, HBL Eng, and Sagility recorded gains between 52 and 85 per cent, while Tejas Network, Natco Pharma, AB Real Estate, Whirlpool, and Brainbees Solutions corrected sharply, losing up to 56 per cent.

From a sectoral perspective, the Nifty Auto index led the rally with a 14.5 per cent rise, driven by Maruti Suzuki, TVS Motor, Eicher Motors, Uno Minda, and Ashok Leyland.

In contrast, the Nifty IT sector lagged with a 14.1 per cent decline, impacted by TCS, HCL Tech, Infosys, Oracle Financial Services, and Wipro.
