In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Gurugram.

The deceased has been identified as Neha. Her body was recovered from the pond after the suicide note left her directed people to “search in the cremation ground pond", leading police to launch a search operation at the site.

The Class 11 student, left her home on Friday in her school uniform and did not return. Her family promptly alerted the police, who began a search operation. CCTV footage later showed Neha walking alone in her uniform, but no further movement could be traced after that.

Distressed over their daughter’s disappearance, her father even announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for any information about her whereabouts.

Later, during the investigation, police recovered a suicide note from Neha’s room. The note read, “Mom and Dad, please forgive me… I am going to be with Grandpa. Do not search for me, and if you must, then look in the cremation ground pond — you will find me there."

During the search operation, her body was recovered from the pond. Preliminary findings suggest that she died due to drowning.

Neha is survived by her parents and an elder brother. Her father is employed at a court library. On the evening of February 11, the family had dinner together, after which Neha went to her room saying she needed to study. However, later that night, she left the house wearing her school uniform and never returned.

The reason behind the alleged suicide is not yet known. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
