Skills, not degrees, will shape future, says APSCHE Chairman at Vignan convocation

Stressing that employability now depends more on skills than academic qualifications, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) chairman Prof. K. Madhu Murthy on Sunday urged students to embrace lifelong learning, innovation and adaptability to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Addressing the Fourth Convocation of the Centre for Distance and Online Education at Vignan University, Vadlamudi, in Guntur district, Prof. Murthy said a degree merely opens the door to opportunities, while long-term success is determined by skills, character, sound judgement and the ability to adapt.

Renowned playback singer S.P. Sailaja, who was conferred an honorary doctorate, told students to pursue their goals with sincerity and perseverance. She said nothing is impossible when dedication and passion guide one's efforts, and urged graduates to uphold values, discipline and gratitude towards teachers.

Vignan University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.V. Krishna Kishore said degrees were awarded to 1,425 students, including 884 MBA, 429 MCA, 63 BCA and 49 BBA graduates.

Vignan Educational Institutions chairman Dr. Lavu Rathaiah encouraged students to embrace artificial intelligence with courage and wisdom, while ensuring it complements rather than replaces creativity, integrity and independent thinking.

Vice-Chairman Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu highlighted the importance of lifelong learning, resilience and mental well-being, while Chancellor Dr. Pavuluri Subba Rao urged graduates to become job creators through innovation and entrepreneurship.
