Equity benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex closed sharply lower on Thursday, February 12, as a combination of global and domestic factors weighed on sentiment, with stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs data dampening hopes of near-term rate cuts and triggering a risk-off mood on the bourses.
The 30-share Sensex fell 558.72 points or 0.66 per cent to end at 83,674.92, while NSE Nifty declined 146.65 points or 0.57 per cent to close at 25,807.20, respectively.
