NEW DELHI: In a move aimed at preventing annual scramble and confusion during postgraduate medical admissions, NMC has revised the NEET-PG 2025 counselling schedule, directing states to strictly align their timelines with the All India Quota (AIQ) process. The revised schedule, issued through a public notice by Post-Graduate Medical Education Board on Dec 19, was circulated to all medical colleges and state counselling authorities on Dec 22. The updated calendar has been finalised in consultation with Medical Counselling Committee, Directorate General of Health Services.NMC officials said the reshuffle is intended to end long-standing clashes between AIQ and state quota counselling, which in previous years led to overlapping rounds, blocked seats and prolonged admission cycles.
The regulator stressed that strict synchronisation is mandatory, in line with repeated Supreme Court directions."All state counselling authorities must adhere to the revised schedule to avoid incoherence between AIQ and state counselling rounds," NMC said, urging medical colleges and students to closely track the new timelines. The directive applies to all state counselling bodies, participating institutions and NEET-PG aspirants, and any deviation could disrupt admissions and invite regulatory action.
