Team India

Team India on Thursday showcased a much better display with the bat compared to the abysmal performance against the USA the other day. This time, India posted 209/9 in 20 overs, still 15-20 runs short, but it turned out to be more than enough against Namibia, which is still a work-in-progress side.

Chasing 210, Namibia showed intent early on, but as soon as spinners Varun Chakravarty and Axar Patel took over the stage, the batting fell apart like a sack of potatoes. They got folded at 116 in 18.2 overs, losing the match by an enormous margin of 93 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Hardik Pandya, who beamed both with the bat and bowl, was adjudged the player of the match.

This was India's 9th consecutive victory in the T20 World Cup, and their biggest ever in the tournament in terms of run margin.

With the win, India have climbed to the top of the Group A standings. So, far, they have played two matches and have won both of them. They are on four points currently with an impressive net run rate of 3.050. Behind India are Pakistan, who are also sitting with four points, but the NRR- 0.932- is lower than India. Following Sunday's battle between the two in Colombo, one team will take the lead over the other on the T20 World Cup 2026 Points Table.

Netherlands are third on the Group A table with two points. They secured those points by beating Namibia earlier in the week. USA and Namibia are fourth and fifth, respectively.

India vs Pakistan: The ultimate clash

Given what has transpired in the build-up to the match, the match will have added spice and some aggression can be expected from both ends. India have always had an upper hand over Pakistan when it comes to the T20 World Cups. The Men-in-Blue lead the head-to-head battle 7-1 currently. However, as both teams enter with significant pressure, whatever happened in the past does not matter much. Thus, Team India would not have the psychological edge as it will feel the pressure of meeting the expectations of over a billion people. Pakistan on the other hand, will face similar pressure, and so ultimately it will be the game of nerves. Whichever team controls its nerves better and takes the right calls under pressure will emerge victorious on February 15, 2026.
